Tropical Ketapang
KETAPANG : Biological water conditioner for freshwater aquaria
KETAPANG - sea almond (Terminalia catappa) leaves - is an agent for effectively improving aquarium water quality. It offers bactericidal and fungicidal properties and helps alleviate stress, thus protecting ornamental fish kept in aquaria.
It adds natural tannins to the water and slightly lowers pH, making the water biotope-correct for fishes from softwater, acidic habitats.
An important advantage of using this product for aquarium purposes is that it doesn’t cause any harm to the important and beneficial filtration bacteria, as sometimes happens during treatment with medications, a typical side-effect of which is invariably an imbalance in the bacterial flora in the aquarium.
The prophylactic and medicinal properties of sea almond have been known for a long time, and in many countries it has been used in natural medicine. It is effective in the treatment of problems associated with asthma, colds, ophthalmia, rheumatism, all kinds of external injuries, bleeding of the gums, and stomach parasites.
Asian breeders of ornamental fish use the leaves of sea almond for effective protection against post-spawning fungal infections in eggs. They place a leaf in the filter in a breeding tank or directly into the aquarium. Thanks to this treatment hatching effectively improves. The leaves are also used in curing fungal infections - a very common and dangerous disease in both young and adult populations
KETAPANG accelerates the healing of wounds and regenerates the mucous coating and fins in aquarium fish. For this reason it is advisable to apply the product after water changes as well as when transporting fish and during the settling-in period, when injuries may frequently occur.
