Koivits is a revolutionary multivitamin spray that can be sprayed onto any food before feeding to suppliment the vitamins and minerals in the food.
Koivits helps assist in recovery from injury or illness, especially carp pox, and enhances the colour and vitality in normal regular use.

Spray Koivits onto the food daily for healthy fish, or add 10ml directly 180 litres (40 gallons) of pond water.

For sick or convalescing fish add double this dose, to boost the immune system and help the fish fight the infection.

Malachite green and Formaldehyde, used together, are the best treatment for common external parasitic infections.
E-X-5 is a special formulation of these key ingredients which is added to the pond every day for a five day course. It is not only an antiparasite treatment but also effectively clears up secondary fungal infections.
Because E-X-5 is added every day for 5 days, it is safe to use in ponds containing sensitive fish such as Sterlet, Tench, Rudd or Orfe.
E-X-5 can also be added to the pond as a single dose preventative treatment, for example, in early spring or when new fish are introduced to the pond.

For use when fish are observed rubbing on the sides of the pond, gasping at the surface, generally lethargic or covered in slime/fungus.

All ponds will contain billions of minute bacteria. There are the helpful species that breakdown the toxic fish waste in the biological filter system, and convert it into nitrate, which is then taken up by the plants. However, there are also other bacteria that live in the pond that are opportunistic invaders of stressed and wounded fish. These bacteria, including the species Pseudomonas and Aeromonas will infect any cut or abrasion of the surface of the fish, and can also invade the host across the gut wall during gastrointestinal problems.

Acriflavin when added to the pond will reduce the numbers of these opportunistic bacteria in the pond, thus lowering not only the chance of infection, but also the intensity of disease in already infected ponds

Acriflavin is ideal to use in hospital or quarantine tanks, but it is unwise to constantly add the treatment to the pond when the fish are healthy. This is because a background level of bacteria is essential for healthy fish to maintain their immune system.

Two researchers called Leteux and Meyer were the first to publish the fact that the anti-parasitic activity of Malachite green could be enhanced through using it in conjunction with Formaldehyde. When parasite infections such as Ichthyopthirius (White spot), Trichodina, Costia, Chilodonella, and Epistylis are suspected the best treatment is a mixture of Malachite Green and Formaldehyde.

Some external parasites such as the flukes Gyrodactylus and Dactylogyrus are best controlled using Formaldehyde alone.

External parasites such as Ichthyopthirius (White spot), Trichodina, Costia, Chilodonella, and Epistylis are frequent troublemakers in the fishpond. They live in the mucous layer of the fish and cause intense irritation as they graze on the skin cells. Infection can be recognised as the fish secrete excess mucus, thus giving them a grey slimy appearance. In White spot infection, as the name suggests, the parasite forms small white spots that resemble table salt crystals over the surface of the fish..

All these parasitoses cause intense irritation to the fish causing them to scratch against sedentary objects in the pond, flick and thrash around and even jump out of the water, as they attempt to scratch the irritation.

Use Malachite Green whenever the above infections are suspected

Malachite Green is also an excellent anti-fungal treatment for diseases such as Saprolegnia. This fungus commonly infects wounds and ulcers on the surface of the fish. It resembles cotton wool like outgrowths from the infected area. However, microscope diagnosis is extremely important as the infection appears very similar to Flexibacter infection. As this is a bacterial disease, an anti-fungal treatment will only aggravate the disease.

Propolis is the waxy substance produced by bees to line their hives and protect the precious contents from infection. It forms a waterproof barrier with antibacterial properties and has been known as “Russian Penicillin”.


Supplied as a thick, dark brown, liquid Propolis can be spread over cleaned and dried ulcers and wounds. When the fish is gently lowered back into the water, contact with the Propolis instantly forms a waxy coating which sticks to the wound forming an antiseptic, waterproof barrier which protects the fish from osmotic shock and re-infection.


Propolis can also be added to food to help boost resistance to infection.
Simply coat pellets with Propolis and, when they hit the water, the waxy coat will form allowing the Propolis to be ingested with the food.

The Paramedic Kit has been developed to treat any cuts, abrasions or ulcers on the exterior body surface of Koi carp, and all other types of fish in all types pond. It contains three separate components, Koi Calm, a sedative to make the fish easier to handle, Ulcer Swab, to clean and disinfect damaged skin and Wound Seal, an antiseptic sealant. When used as directed in the manual these products will provide a safe and fast-acting wound treatment package to disinfect, seal, and promote the fish’s natural healing process.

Fish can receive external wounds due to a number of reasons, Parasitic infection, poor water chemistry, or mechanical damage due to fighting for example. These wounds must be treated immediately to prevent secondary infection by opportunistic bacteria and fungi, and also to prevent osmotic shock as pond water passes into the fish through the wound.

The Paramedic Kit contains detailed instructions to the wound treatment process. It also contains a guide to aid rapid recovery, and most importantly discover the reason for the wound arising, so the problem can be prevented in future.

Maintaining a general hardness of water of at least 8 degrees of hardness helps to keep the biological processes working properly thus avoiding stagnation and acidification.

The calcium and magnesium forming the general hardness of water are essential for the proper growth of plants and aquatic micro-organisms which consume unicellular algae and help to keep the water clear.

The buffer capacity of pond water is the ability of pond water to maintain the pH at the correct level for the survival of your fish.

The metabolism of fish in the pond tends to use up KH buffer and if this is not replaced can lead to sudden pH crash causing death of fish, frequently at night.

It is advised to test KH regularly and maintain the KH level above 6 degrees carbonate hardness.
