Removes the main nutrient of algae, nitrate, from the water. Operates exclusively through nitrate-eliminating bacteria, without the use of chemical additives or exchange products.

JBL BioNitratEX consists of small beads containing nutrients for bacteria and so encourages the settlement of denitrifying bacteria which are present in large numbers in any aquarium. The net bag around the material restricts the water flow and so ensures the correct flow velocity inside the bag. This produces an environment low in oxygen which allows the colonisation of nitrate removing bacteria

Pack contains 4 net bags of material (each bag sufficient for 50 litres of water) . Bag should be placed as the last stage in the aquarium filter. Do not rinse bag prior to use or during its life in the filter. Active for approximately 12 months

Although nitrate (NO3) is non-toxic, it stunts the growth of fish and plants and leads to the excessive growth of algae in aquariums and ponds.

Nitrate is only broken down by bacteria under anaerobic (oxygen-free) conditions. These occur, for example, in the floor covering material or in the reef rock of saltwater aquariums.

Every filter which operates on normal biological principles produces nitrate. The nitrate consumption of plants is often not high enough, and nitrate becomes enriched in the water, leading to an increase in algae growth.

JBL Clearmec Plus is a mixture of baked clay beads and special resins. It helps to reduce all substances in the water which tend to promote the growth of undesirable algae. It absorbs phosphate, nitrite and nitrate without removing important trace elements. The clay beads promote the settlement of beneficial cleansing bacteria. The aquarium water turns crystal clear, creating ideal conditions for fish and plants

Use : : JBL Clearmec Plus is suitable for virtually all filter systems. Simply place one or more net bags with JBL Clearmec Plus into the filter as the last stage after any other filtering material. Rinse well under running water before use. Replace after about 3 months
