Mech Duo Cartridge
The BioLife Mech Duo-Density Polyester / Carbon
Cartridge is the third and final step in mechanically scrubbing the passing
water flow. The Duo Density polyester pad removes any fine solid wastes that
escapes Stage 1 and 2. Following the final step in
mechanical filtration, the carbon granules within adsorb liquefied wastes,
medications or dyes into the huge internal carbon matrix. The efficient
combination of micro and macro pores adsorbs all sizes of liquefied wastes
and gaseous impurities in the water stream before they can reach the
"Dry" Chamber
Maintenance:
Thwe BioLife Stage 3 Duo-Density Polyester / Carbon
Cartridges should be changed every two weeks to ensure water flow to the
biological filter is pure.
Pull old cartridge from the slot, discard and insert a
new one into the empty slot. Ensure the arrows are facing down.

The BioLife's Carbon Filter is the second step in
mechanically scrubbing the passing water flow. The filter removes any fine solid
wastes that escapes Stage 1 . A huge internal carbon matrix adsorbs liquefied wastes,
medications or dyes . The efficient combination of micro and macro pores
adsorbs all sizes of liquefied wastes and gaseous impurities in the water stream

Maintenance:
The Carbon Filter should be changed every two weeks to

 | BioLife A-282 Hex-Nodes
Bio Hex-Nodes
BioLife Stage 5
"Wet / Dry" Filtration System Media
The Bio-Life Hex-Nodes may be used either in a "dry" chamber or
submersed in a water flow. They provide ideal surface attachment points for the
beneficial bacteria to grow and thrive. Used in the lowest biological chamber of
the BioLife Filtration System, they provide the finishing biological polishing
of the water before it is exhausted into the aquarium.
Hex-Nodes require almost no maintenance. If there is any build up of deposits
on the pieces, simply rinse the Hex-Nodes in aquarium water to ensure the
bacterial populations are retained as solid wastes are washed away. Normal tap
water supplies include Chlorine and Chloramine in the water that will kill most
of the beneficial colonies of bacteria and should be carefully avoided when
rinsing any biological media.
If desired, change half the Hex-Nodes 6 monthly. It takes time for an
adequate population of bacteria to grow to a strength where they can remove all
the ammonia and nitrite produced by the aquarium. When changing Hex-Nodes that
have been previously initiated, do not change any other media at the same time.
bacteria already in the filter and media will rapidly seed the Hex-Nodes
